

Born October 28,1842 in Illinois. He enlisted as a Private on August 4, 1862 at the age of 19 in Marengo, Illinois. It was a 3-year enlistment. He mustered in on September 4,1862 in Rockford, Illinois. He was discharged on August 17, 1865, at Camp Butler, Illinois. The regiment saw action in the Vicksburg Campaign in 1863, the Battle of Pleasant Hill in the Red River Campaign in April 1864, the Atlanta Campaign in 1864, the Battle of Nashville on December 15-16, 1864, and the Mobile Campaign in March-April 1865. He died in Aldine, Texas on May 4,1924. His death certificate says he was a blacksmith. He has one son, James Harry Plumb, also buried at Crown Hill Cemetery. - Bobby Dover
