Good Afternoon,

We are starting to get into the dog days of the Summer. I have been out for a few months due to work but I’m still here and doing well. I hope all of you are finding cool places to beat this heat we are having or will have.

Many things have been going on with the Crown Hill Cemetery. Mowing is still getting accomplished every couple of weeks but with rain it will soon need to be done weekly.

The Association has been present at events lately, Memorial Day at the Crown Hill Cemetery was a success paying tribute to Ben Gutierrez who is the only Veteran buried at the CHC that died in battle. Pvt. Gutierrez died on the taking of Guam during WW2. His family still lives in Pasadena and visits his grave very often, placing American Flags on his grave. The Pasadena American Legion helped us at this event playing Taps at Mr. Gutierrez gravesite, also Mr. Mark McVey singing the American National Anthem.

Before Memorial Day the Crown Hill Cemetery was at the 50th Annual Celebration of the Pasadena Strawberry Festival. Hope you had time to come out as there were a lot of activities happening there that would make you proud to be from Pasadena.

The Association has a few things we are working on providing for you. First off, we will be placing some markers telling you where you are located in the cemetery. When you are looking for a grave site and you know the row and plot number, these markers will be able to guide you to where you need to go. Also coming up soon, when you come to the cemetery, you will be able to tune your car/truck radio to a station that we will have for the Crown Hill Cemetery that will tell you any news we have from the Crown Hill Cemetery, info which includes who we are, what we are doing and what we plan on doing to make your visit more enjoyable. And finally coming soon, a “NEW” Web site will be up and going. Our Web person is still making some finishing touches to it and we will let you know when it is available, hopefully sooner than later.

If you haven’t heard, we are starting a headstone repair campaign and looking to take donations for this. We have several headstones in the Mexican Allotment that are handmade and we have damaged bricks that need to be repaired by a brick mason. We have the mason lined up ready to work but we need help on the money end of this. If you would like to help us out please go to the web site and make a donation or you can call me at 281-785-5191 and I can help you if you would like to pay by other means.

The Crown Hill Cemetery operates only on donations from you (or out of our own pockets, just don’t tell my wife).

If you see something that we need to address or suggest to us please let me know. I can always be reached at 281-785-5191 or email at [email protected]

Thanks to All of You for Your Help!
