We are getting toward the end of summer, and hopefully this heat. It seems like the sun will not let up. Please stay hydrated and in the air conditioning in the middle of the day. Your Crown Hill Cemetery Association has been busy over the summer working on keeping the cemetery open and looking nice for you. We will be making an announcement very soon that will impact the cemetery and make the association take a deep breath of relief. More news to come on this, and you will be pleased!
Your Association has been working on renovating headstones in our “Mexican Allotment” section. We have been getting some donations for these repairs and once again our members and sponsors have been coming through. The repairs are ready to start. Please come by and see what we are doing. There are many more repairs that need to be completed and we are working that way. The Association will have some volunteer days coming up in October/November where we will make repairs/reset headstones bringing them up to their correct height. If you would like to help, please be on the lookout for these dates.
This summer has been tough on the grass at the Crown Hill Cemetery. The heat and blazing Sun have taken its toll, but on the good side, the grass is not growing fast. Along with the grass, we have been able to purchase a (new to us) zero turn mower. Thanks to Chris Stanley at Alvin Equipment for helping us out on this purchase and giving us have a super deal! If you are in the Alvin area, please stop by Alvin Equipment on Hwy 6 and thank the fine folks for their Help!
The Crown Hill Cemetery Association are still having our monthly meetings on the 3rd Wednesday of each month, we are meeting at the Pasadena Historical Museum on the corner of Highway 225 and Main St. The meetings start at 6:00pm and usually run until 7:00-7:30. Everyone is welcomed to attend. New faces are great as new ideas come from people outside of our group.
If you don’t know, we have a new web page design. Please take a minute to look at it and give us some input as to what you want to see. Changes have been happening rapidly, almost daily but it is exciting to see the hard work moving forward for all of you to see and interact.
