In Loving Memory of Rev. Orlando "Lanny" W. Beck Sr.

Rev. Orlando "Lanny" W. Beck Sr., passed away on May 24, 2017. A visitation will be held on Friday, June 2, 2017 from 10:00 a.m - 12:00 p.m., at Crown Hill Funeral Home (700 W. 38th St, Indianapolis, IN 46208), with services at 12:00 p.m. Burial to immediately follow at Crown Hill Cemetery.

Rev. Orlando Walter Beck Sr. (Lanny) was born May 6, 1944 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He’s the second child of Elder Jesse Calvin Beck, Sr. and Nellie Olivia (Anthony) Beck.

Lanny attended Indianapolis Public Schools and Arsenal Technical High School where he played Freshman-Reserve and Varsity football. He also played little league baseball at Fredrick Douglass Park and play basketball at Scholl #56. Not only did he love sports, but also music. He was given a clarinet as a gift and learned to play it without music lessons.

Lanny married Claudette Benson on October 25, 1965 in Indianapolis. This union was blessed with two children Lana Claudette Beck (Pettus) and Orlando Calvin Beck a.k.a Junior.

Rev. Orlando Beck accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age at St. Luke Baptist Church. He was a member of the Rapture Family and also one part of Junior Sacred Four (also includes Elder Jesse Beck, Jesse Beck, Jr., Rev. Michael Beck and others. He has been a member of Eastside Missionary Baptist Church, Church of the Living God Temple #18 and became founder and Pastor in 1994 of Spiritual Awakening Baptist Tabernacle (Christ Bible Church).

He was a veteran of the United States Navy where he served and traveled from California to Hawaii to Okinawa, Japan to Hong Kong, China to Bangkok, China and the Philippines. He worked for the Indianapolis Police Department as a Police Officer. Last, he worked for Chrysler Foundry where he retired December 31, 1999.

Rev. Orlando Beck Sr., departed from this life on Wednesday, May 24, 2017. He was a caring and loving husband and father. He was preceded by his parents and his brother, Jesse T. Beck.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Claudette Beck; 2 children, Lana C. Pettus and Orlando C. Beck (Junior); two grandchildren, Cameron J. Beck and Cory J. Brown; son-in-law, Pastor P. Raphael Pettus; daughter-in-law, Rhonda Beck; brother, Rev. Michael J. Beck Sr., and a host of nieces and nephews, other relative and friends.
