In loving Memory of Alford Hayes

Mr. Alford Haye was born in Marengo county Alabama on June 30, 1924 to Eugene and Mary Smith-Hayes. Both Parents preceded him in death.

.On February 2, 1946 Mr. Hayes married Willie Bell Finley. This union lasted 71 years until death indeed parted them. 

Alfred moved from Quitman, Mississippi to Indianapolis in 1963 with his wife and family. He worked as as a construction worker, specifically as a Union Hod Carrier until retirement. Known to many as simply "15" he was a resident of the Brightwood community for more than 50 years. 

At the time of his death he was an Ordained Deacon and member of Serenity the Prince of Peace Church of God in Christ. 

All of Mr. Hayes his siblings preceded him in death Mathias, Luther, Arthur, Samuel and Myrtis Hayes-Barron.  Several of his children also proceeded him they were: Elijah Eugene, Velva, Brenda and Alfreda.

He is survived by his wife Willie Bell Hayes, 10 daughters:  Mary Alice Bolden,  Gary Lee Thomas,(Robert) Mary Lee Jemison, Myrtis V. Hayes, DeLois Jenkins(Ron), Carolyn Kirksey, Juanita McDonald (Mackie)Emma Rose Sanders (Charles) Theresa Carson, (Michael) Marel "Tish" Norris, (Louis). One son, Paul Kirksey (Donna), 25 grandchildren and 100 + great  grandchildren and a host of great,  great grands.and relatives and friends

Tears have a wisdom all their own. They come when a person has relaxed enough to let go and to work through his sorrow. They are the natural bleeding of an emotional wound, carrying the poison out of the system. Here lies the road to recovery.

Funeral Information

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at 12 o'clock noon in the Memorial Chapel at Crown Hill Funeral Home.  Calling will be held from 10 a.m until the time of the service.  Burial will take place in Crown Hill Cemetery.
